一直以來談的都是搖滾樂與悲哀的饅頭拔辣
其實最想與朋友們分享的 卻是80's~90's的美國流行音樂
因為 對我而言這是非常重要的一段青春史
當時 B52的竄紅 對我而言也是莫名奇妙
認識了這個非常有趣的樂團 也是因為國中在唱片行
買到了所謂"精選再精選"的音樂錄影帶
想當然耳 那時候的音樂錄影帶 一定也是盜拷的
但是, 國中哪有懂那麼多 就為了一兩首余光推薦的歌曲
買了好幾張錄影帶 但是也因此認識很多藝人與音樂
很恰巧的 B-52's 就在某捲錄影帶中的第一首
還記得這張影帶裡面 大牌歌手相當多
有EltonJohn, Rod Stewart, Taylor Dayne, Phil Collins
但也因此 每次放錄影帶 都會先看到這支MV
現在用文字來形容這個樂團 真是很難來下筆
歡樂 搞笑 不正經的樂風下
批判 嚴肅的歌詞確時有所見
"雙女伶與五音不全男主唱"
"難看的舞步" "熱鬧的編曲"
這是我最初的印象
但是 雙女伶的合音 搭配連"念"歌詞都音不準的Fred
卻讓B-52's鹹魚大翻身 在"Cosmic Thing"這張專輯推出時大放異彩
熱鬧卻不吵雜 歡樂卻不做作
也是商業市場產生的音樂中
少數做自己的樂團 十幾年來 現在還是如此活潑與熱情
只收過"Cosmic Things"和"Good Stuff"兩張專輯
但是其中的名曲"Roam", "Love Shack", "Cosmic Thing"
"Channel Z", "Revolution Earth", "Hot Pants Explosion" (熱褲爆炸??)
"Good Stuff", "Deadbeat Club"都是相當有意思的歌曲
而其中"Roam", "Love Shack"都拿過Billboard前十名
80年代末的B-52's, 轟動舞廳的魅力 現今 都還歷歷在目
用心聆聽雙女伶的合音 比青蛙王子的阿珠阿花精采數倍
